Trust To Apply for Asset of Community Value Status For Edgar Street
The Hereford United Supporters Trust have today announced their intention to apply to make Edgar Street an Asset Of Community Value (ACV).
The move, in line the the Aims of the Trust to support and maintain professional football in Herefordshire is made possible under the Localism Act 2011. It is designed to help to protect the stadium as the only venue capable of supporting Professional Football in the County of Herefordshire. It is hoped the move will ensure continuation of the sport at the stadium should the club suffer future financial difficulties like those that saw the leases leave the hands of the club some 15 years ago.
If the status is achieved it will allow the Trust a six month window to consider it’s own offer for the stadium, in consultation with members and the wider community, or to seek clarity on the future intentions should changes be attempted to the current arrangements.
Acting Trust Chairman Chris Williams informed the Club Chairman David Keyte of the move earlier today and it was agreed that further discussions would take place when they both return from imminent overseas trips.
