A Bulls Legend & A Youngster Join HUST

The Hereford United Supporters Trust’s Membership has once again been swelling with total membership numbers currently standing at 541 Adults & 115 Junior Members.

Recent New Members include Bull’s Legend Steve Guinan, who has been given Membership Number 500. The popular striker had 2 permanent spells and a loan spell with the Bulls between 2002 & 2009 scoring 68 goals in 178 appearances for the club, including a massive 25 league goals in the record breaking 2003/04 season which is regarded by many fans as one of the most entertaining seasons in recent history for the Bulls.

On signing up for the Trust, Steve said “The reason why I joined was to basically offer
my support and try, even if in a small way, to help a little towards the good
causes that you (HUST) are aiming to achieve.”

“There are obvious issues at Edgar Street at the moment and it is disappointing
to see the club that I captained and spent nearly five thoroughly enjoyable
years at in League 1, League 2 and the Conference suffer from mis-management
during the past few years. Perhaps more worryingly, is to see the good people
who have been associated with the Club for so long and put in so many hours of
hard work down the years, feel that compelled to walk away due to unfulfilled
promises. That is not right and it is unjust.”

“The Club will have to prepared to go through a big transition phase over the
next few weeks/months ahead but what I’m sure of, if the fans and local
community are informed and hopefully involved in the decision making process,
Hereford United will return as a force within the football pyramid. Hereford
United is a great club and the fans played an enormous part in keeping the club
afloat whilst inspiring the players to stay up last season, therefore
ostracising the most important aspect of any club, which is what is happening at
the moment, is puzzling and disrespectful.”

“I still remain hopeful that the new owner will fulfil all obligations and that
there will be some quality recruitment ahead of the new season but whatever
happens, I will always keep an eye on results and support the Club in whatever
way possible.”

Guinan joins such other HUFC Stalwarts as team-mates Matt Clarke & Ben Smith, and lines up alongside Gareth Davies, Stuart Phillips, Ricky George, Rob Elmes & Ian Rodgerson in the HUST ranks, we wonder if any would like to play for our supporters team?!

HUST has also recruited it’s youngest member, William Elliott, was just 9 hours old when his Grandfather, HUST Chairman Chris Williams signed him up for the Trust. The son of Kate & James Elliott was born in the Middlesex Maternity Unit, Twickenham on Sunday 15th June at 3:23 am and was 6 pounds 3.5 oz

He already has a HUFC babygrow!Camera 175
Chris reported that both Mother & Baby William are both healthy, whilst Granddad is said not be unable to stop smiling. Even suggesting to title this article “Billy Elliott signs for HUST!”.
We just hope he doesn’t have his Grandfathers hair line! – Congratulations to Chris & the rest of his family.
HUST Membership is still only £10 for Adults & £1 for Juniors. Online Sign ups can be found HERE
