The Northern Bulls

Bulls fan Ruth Walkden has set up the Northern Bulls fan group. We asked her to tell us more about the group:

Its not easy being a Bulls fan and living ‘Up North’. Not surprisingly, most things happen around Edgar St, a 7 hour round trip and a tank of fuel. The man with the pencil and crayons who compiles the fixtures has the six nearest games to home all completed by the middle of November leaving December, January, February and March blank, bar a decent game played by the youth team and a good few long drives to Hereford, several nights in a good B&B and some very understanding cat sitters.

Now I know its not just me, There is Blackburn Bull, Burnley Bull and Claire from the Isle of Man. There are Bulls fans in Wigan, Bolton, Manchester and Liverpool, even in foreign parts such as Yorkshire, all of whom make the games near to home and try to get to ES at least once a season.

At this point, I would like to introduce Northern Bulls to you. It is an opportunity to meet up at matches, have a drink (soft drink for drivers of course!) and talk all things HUFC. In the future it would be great to have a banner, do a bit of fundraising, share transport, the sorts of things Scottish Bulls and London Bulls do so well.

Now the geography bit. The bit where Northern Bulls finish north is easy – where Scottish Bulls take over. West and East is determined by sea – Irish and North. The southern limit is a tad more complicated and has been the subject of some earnest debate. One suggestion was anywhere north of the Starting Gate/Holmer roundabout!

We are on Twitter @bullsinthenorth, on Facebook as Northern Bulls. Our email address is bullsinthenorth@gmail.com. I’d be really grateful for ideas/suggestions on taking the group forward, how we can help the club continue and support the organisations/people that have a hands on approach in resolving current issues.
