HUST Seeks Views On ACV
The Supporters Trust Board is currently in discussions over the future of the Asset of Community Value (ACV) status currently in force on the Edgar Street Athletic Stadium.
Our democratic process, as outlined in a statement on January 7th, is that the Trust Chairman was to make recommendations to the Trust Board following his one on one meeting with David Keyte in Mid-January to examine the new leases, and that the Trust Board would then decide whether to follow the advice or to seek a wider mandate. This process is enshrined in our Constitution.
The Trust Chairman did not see the leases at that meeting, as they were not completed, so that while he was able to discuss the matter in broad terms with the three Directors present, he was not able to complete the main reason for the meeting. However Bob Pritchard has agreed to address queries presented by the Trust to him in order to resolve some outstanding questions that fans have brought up.
We sought the views of our wider Working Group on the land swap of the ‘triangles’ behind the Meadow End, and there was unanimous agreement to that, and we are also seeking the views of the Working Group on Monday. The views received from that will be considered by the Trust Board on the path to the next safemdonline.com step.
We understand that, following an email from us on February 11th, Council officials have been in discussions with the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG), who are responsible for the legislation surrounding ACVs, and we would like to thank Bob Pritchard for his assistance in pushing the Council towards an answer as to how the process to alter the ACV is done. We have now been provided with a process by the Council, and the implementation of the legislation appears to vary between different Councils.
During our discussions with Supporters Direct’s legal department they intend to raise our case, and the widespread inconsistencies in implementation, at a planned meeting with the principle person regarding ACVs at DCLG.
We continue to seek the views of members, and all fans, on the long term future of the Edgar Street Athletic Stadium towards making a decision in the best interests of the fans. We would like to stress that the Club have stated that funds obtained from the redevelopment sites will only be used for the redevelopment, so that a decision in any direction of the Trust on this matter will not affect the short term cash issues the club currently faces.
Any fan with a view on the situation is asked to email liaison@hufctrust.co.uk, and your comments will be considered by the Trust Board.
